These readings show that we have heard Don Samuel as a man who lived fully the Gospel. The text of Jeremiah, so splendid, reveals his own life. God's providence would have it for fifty- one year, two priests of the Diocese of San Cristobal de las Casas choose for him, the slogan he used in his episcopal coat, which was precisely "To Build and Plant" which is taken from this text from the prophet Jeremiah.
Don Samuel was the prophet Jeremiah, a man who lived and experienced the contradiction. A person whose actions were discussed and condemned by a section of society, but for the poor and for whom we have worked with him, for them, Mr. Samuel was a bright light on who fully complied what God told the prophet: "From today I give you authority over nations and kingdoms to uproot and destroy, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant "(Jer.1, 10). Don Samuel
reached Chiapas riddled with injustice and abuses against indigenous people and the poor. We got to see with their own eyes the backs of indigenous men marked by the whip of the farmers, found from the word of the poor Indians, when he came to this area, the wage for them was three cents a day, and it was still a salary that never paid, because there was a company store. He also met the Indian girls subjected to the "law of the pin", ie the employer, before they came to marriage, I had to find, joining them, their virginity.
whole situation of injustice, abuse, inhuman treatment to the Maya Indians, is not only his word of truth, justice and love in his proclamation of the dignity that are the sons and daughters of God reported, but especially with the construction of a church in which he means that a whole series of injustices and abuse disappear through the instances that were slowly building, where by means of evangelization, who had were slaves, who were subjected voiceless, knew the dignity that God gave them at birth. And those same indigenous men and women, through their active participation and the construction of these instances, participated in changing social structures, which was unwarranted and orchestrated the inhumane treatment they received. Samuel helped those who were oppressed and humiliated, becoming as announced by the prophet Isaiah, in oaks of righteousness, repairers and refurbishers of devastated cities (cf. Isa 61.3-4).
We are all witnesses who cooperate with him in Chiapas and who knew his work from other places, what it meant to him this work for the release of the Mayan peoples in Chiapas. We fully understand the text of the prophet Jeremiah where he came unwavering strength that characterized it.
as if they were engraved in his heart these words: "Behold, today I have become a stronghold in the iron pillar in wall of bronze against the whole land ... They will fight, but not be with you because you I am to save you "(Jer. 1.18 to 19).
The text of the Letter to the Romans described by the mouth of St. Paul the spirit that characterizes the elect of Christ: "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ, and Will tribulation," The anguish?, "Persecution ?, "Hunger?," The nakedness, Are the dangers?, "The sword? ... In all these things we more than conquerors through Him who loved us" (Romans 8, 35.37) .... Today
jTatic Easter, we and us are celebrating their victory, with the power of Christ over all these obstacles, he leaves us the legacy of hope in a different world, in Mexico just in a Mexico the peaceful. With his wisdom of life, with his testimony of faith, his love for the human family, says: "You gotta fight, you gotta be bold, AS WELL ON THE TRIUMPH OF EVIL IS INSURED. Not to relax STRENGTH NEVER, NEVER NOT LES VENZA discouragement.
The beginning of the Sermon on the Mount shows us the gospel of Matthew with the discourse of the Beatitudes, it demonstrates the quality of the man who was jTatic Samuel, as embodied in its entirety the word of Jesus. Today, in all truth, we can call jTatic, blessed. For his identification with the poor and afflicted, for his perseverance to overcome evil with good, for the tears that we shed next to the humiliated victims of human cruelty to which he taught them to work for justice, getting rid of any feelings of resentment and revenge any movement, trusting that the Lord is the reward of the righteous.
He is an example of the hungry and thirst for justice, with all its forces worked to root out injustice and replace it with justice. With all his strength remained above all their struggle for respect for human rights and dignity of all. There was no suffering that does not touch your heart. Provided to those who slandered him, tried to stop by the most despicable in this work for the good of the human community, Don Samuel always acted with mercy to them, waiting patiently for that one day understand what the disastrous end of their lives if still attached to evil, and his selfish ambitions.
Don Samuel had eyes to see the image of God in every one of his brothers and sisters because his heart was clean. And in all truth we see that by the end of his life was preserved as a true son of God for his peace work, born of justice and love.
Blessed are you, jTatic Samuel, pursued for the sake of righteousness, for yours is now full, the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are you, jTatic Samuel, you were subject to libel and slander, of innumerable persecutions, reproaches, insults for the sake of Jesus who is the fullness of life of the poor, the fullness of life for all human beings on this earth. Rejoice now and jump for joy to God for this he suffered for being faithful prophet Jesus. Blessed are you, jTatic SAMUEL, TO TODAY enjoy the reward of the righteous. Homily
